As a POW in Vietnam, Larry Chesley learned what it takes to survive life in prison—and he also has a pretty good idea of what it takes to survive in today's challenging world. In this exceptional presentation, he compares people to Oreo cookies— sometimes rather plain on the outside, but always filled with "good stuff" inside. Using three unforgettable stories of ordinary people with extraordinary goodness inside, he illustrates the concept that people with the “good stuff" serve others unselfishly and put others’ needs before their own.

Latter-day Saint youth, Larry explains, have extra "good stuff" inside. Comparing the unique challenges they face to being at war, he points out that the love, support, and teachings they receive at home serve as their "boot camp" training for the tough times ahead. Larry pulls no punches in telling it like it is, and like it will be for their special generation. Youth and young adults who listen to this inspiring talk will be motivated to find out about their own "good stuff," and they'll catch the vision of the great people they can become.

LARRY CHESLEY

U.S. Air Force Lt. Colonel Larry Chesley (retired) was born and reared in Burley, Idaho. As a college graduate, he became a pilot in Vietnam, where he was shot down in 1966. He spent nearly seven years in prison camps in and around Hanoi, and was released with the first group of POWs in 1973. His book, Seven Years in Hanoi, relates in detail his experiences as a prisoner. He retired from the Air Force in 1982 after 22 years of service, and was then a college instructor, a professional public speaker, and a state senator in Arizona.
