We have been sent to the earth late in the final dispensation to build the kingdom of God,” Kendall Ayres writes. In this book is the young man who, though pressured by an older person, stood firm against lying; the boy who confessed wrongdoing to his father, then learned that Jesus still loved him; the lessons a seminary class learned when fellow students met their deaths while sluffing that class; the excitement of the girl who fell in love—with the scriptures; the judge, and the young man who listened to the wrong voice; the girl whose dabblings with evil came back to haunt her until her loving father, recognizing the teaching moment, was at last able to lead her back to the right path; the missionary who stole the scene, and the companion who permitted that for the sake of the convert family; and the leader who, after much prayer and pondering, received in personal revelation the profound answer, “Gratitude is the beginning of all righteous desire.” The experiences recounted here are not only of great interest in themselves. They also promote faith in the reader or hearer; they are valuable for illustrating gospel principles; they remind us that in one way or another we are all teachers, while helping us to become more effective teachers; and they prompt us to be alert to those occasions when the Spirit combines with circumstances to make great teaching moments.
