A Come Follow Me home study help for Individuals & Families - Have you ever struggled to accept or agree with prophetic counsel? How do you cope when that happens? Hosts Ganel-Lyn and Scott tackle these questions and others with meaningful scriptures, quotes, insights, and even a Nerf gun in today’s episode on Helaman 13–16. This week’s discussion covers the story of Samuel the Lamanite as he preaches and prophesies to the Nephites. Just as it was difficult for the Nephites to understand Samuel’s prophecies, so it can be difficult for us to understand the signs and warnings spoken of by latter-day prophets. However, prophecies from our living prophets are given to bless us. “Signs put us in a place where we don’t get to claim ignorance,” giving us access to our agency. Instead of casting aside or disregarding prophetic counsel, we can hold on to it in faith and “trust the timing to see the truth revealed.” We can be sign seers rather than sign seekers. What are some signs you have been given that allow you to believe and trust in God, just as Samuel the Lamanite did?
