The countdown to Christ is a collection of stories from the Bible telling events that led up to the birth of Christ. Set up as an advent calendar, this ornament set can help us remember Christ more during the Christmas season. The stories begin with the Creation and Garden of Eden, and include events like The Flood, Joseph's Coat, and Jonah and the Whale. This is based on the popular Jesse Tree Christmas tradition. Comes with 24 chipboard 2" ornaments, drawstring burlap bag, and a booklet with stories for each day.

Each ornament is labeled with a topic, date, and scripture references. Starting on December 1, take the ornament marked with the same date, and read the corresponding story on this booklet, or go straight to the scriptures marked for that day. Then hang the ornament on the Christmas tree. Continue choosing one ornament each day until December 24th.

  • ABRAHAM & ISAAC DECEMBER 5
    • GENESIS 22:1-19
    • Really, this is a story named after Abraham and Isaac, not a story about Abraham. He had to love God so much and was willing to sacrifice his only son. Ultimately, God blessed Abraham for this obedience and blessed all of his seed as a result. This represents how we, as men and women, should be obedient to God, sacrificing his only begotten Son.
  • JACOB DECEMBER 6
    • GENESIS 28:10-22
    • Jacob, On one night Jacob had a vision of a ladder reaching from earth to heaven, and the angels of God were ascending and descending on it. God was at the top of the ladder, and He promised to be with Jacob and his descendants now and forever, and that the earth would be blessed because of the promises to Jacob. Jacob's ladder is important because it symbolizes the covenant that would be made through Jesus, so many songs and things refer to the twelve tribes of Israel or Jacob's ladder.
  • JOSEPH DECEMBER 7
    • GENESIS 37
    • Jacob, Joseph was the favorite of his father. He was thrown into a pit by his brothers, sold into slavery, and rose to power in Egypt, and at the end of his life, saved his brothers. This is a reminder to us that we must be humble and willing to submit to God, even when things are going out of control in our life. He has a great purpose for this.
