The wreath is made with the leaves of a magnolia tree.  The piece is meant to symbolize hospitality and welcome. The artist, Susan Lordi, noted that she liked the double meaning of "gathering"—gathering materials for the wreath, or gathering together with friends and family. Its sentiment is "A gathering of blessings" and it is often given as a housewarming, hostess, or holiday gift.
