Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, the same is greatest in the kingdom of Heaven.
- Matthew 18:3
This painting is meant to remind us of the love the Savior has for us, that each soul is great in His sight. The child looks out at the viewer as if to ask, Do you feel His love? The light pours down through olive branches, representing the glory and love of the Father. The Savior wears a red robe, representing His blood shed for us, with white representing purity and resurrection. The little boy also has a halo, representing his divine heritage as a child of God. On the Savior’s robe is a pattern of circles within squares—the square representing mortality, the circle representing eternity. The broken framing represents the Lord breaking the bands of death to open up the way to eternity for each of us.
