Gifts of a friendship are everlasting gifts that will bring joy and happiness to those who accept and maintain the friendship. God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son." (John 3:16.) And Jesus declared that he gave his life and laid it down by his own choice as an eternal gift to each one of us. This eternal gift of the Savior was given to us as his friends. Throughout the scriptures he speaks of various individuals as "my friend." As we better learn to understand our relationship with our Savior and strive to do our part in accepting and receiving it, we will learn to truly understand and cherish his declaration when he said, "I will call you friends, for ye are my friends" (D&C 93:45).
