In Family Courageous Louise Larsen Fisher, with a rare combination of humor and pathos, relates with verve the story of C. C. Larsen and his "three-in-one" family of nineteen. The author recounts her father's business activities and the family's experiences in the early-day settlement of the Uintah Basin. The father looms large on the horizon as a pioneer in his own right and as a son of pioneer immigrants from Denmark, which country he himself left at the age of thirteen. Venture after venture he plunged into, forecasting by his own activities the very developments that have since occurred in the area he pioneered. The family story is unique, as may be surmised from the fact that twelve children accompanied their new father or their new mother on the honeymoon.
