Kelly's gradual transition in Church affairs from seemingly don't-care aggressiveness through wary acceptance to willing participation is skillfully portrayed by the author. The fast-paced narrative is punctuated with scenes which evoke the reader's strong emotional response. And all the while this completely satisfying and enjoyable story rings true.
