I have tried to present as honest and, therefore, as balanced a view of the sensitive themes treated in this book as my own understanding would allow. In this statement the author acknowledges that the material in this book is in a sensitive area—dealing with gospel fundamentals as they relate to woman in her vital eternal relationships to man and to God. The author adds that never has there been a time when there is a greater need for a reaffirmation of certain basic ideals in their wholeness, for never have they been subjected to greater distortion and fragmentation. In Woman and the Priesthood, Dr. Turner offers a well-written book, the very title of which becomes a challenge in today's world of woman's demand for more and more freedom and equality. The author draws on his vast experience as a theologian, teacher of religion, and counselor to combat Satan's current and eminently successful campaign to destroy the family of God. The writer convincingly attacks the current worldwide assault on personal morality and the institution of marriage by a forthright juxtaposition of things as he believes they are with things as they should be. Here are some basic conclusions of the author: ‚ÄúThe basic laws by which the blessings of heaven are obtained apply with equal force to both sexes." "The woman who fills the measure of her creation is as approved, successful and happy as any man can hope to be." "Man and woman find salvation together. They must close the circle of eternal progression if they are to regain the presence of God." "Woman's priesthood callings are not elder, bishop, seventy or apostle—but wife, mother, teacher, comforter. These are at least as important and demanding as any of those exercised by men."
