While no book approaches the value of the scriptures, some books are of great worth in helping us to uncover scriptural treasures we might otherwise overlook. Book of Mormon Compendium is an outstanding example. This study explores background material such as the writers and languages of the Book of Mormon and the modern witnesses to its divine origin. It surveys one by one the various writings comprising the ancient record, in each case summarizing the content, indicating the basic features, and suggesting an outline by which to obtain deeper understandings. Concluding chapters embrace doctrinal concepts which are enriched through the writings of the Book of Mormon. The entire book is written in a lucid style which enables the reader to share readily in the scriptural truths being discussed and in the author's perceptive comments. The insights Dr. Sperry offers here reflect a lifetime of study, a dedication to the search for ever-deepening meanings in the sacred record of ancient America. The result is a reference work of exceptional merit which all who value the Book of Mormon will want to have in their homes.
