Traditionally the art you will find at Deseret Book is framed and ready to hang on the wall. With the addition of artist Ben Behunin we‚Äôre mixing that up a bit, showcasing Ben‚Äôs unique pottery style. First exposed to pottery in a freshman ceramics class, Ben thought like many students it would be an easy A. It was a learning experience to find it took practice and hard work to excel in pottery. Through that process he gained the skills to earn a small scholarship to Ricks College where he continued to grow. On a LDS mission to Switzerland, Germany, and Austria he met a German potter who he returned to work for after his mission was complete. Following that formative experience Ben continued his education at two other schools before deciding to become a full-time potter, and he‚Äôs never looked back since. Deseret Book is proud to carry in many of our stores, as well as our website, two of Ben‚Äôs 10 inch bowls, ‚ÄúThe Tree of Life,‚Äù and ‚ÄúForget Me Not.‚Äù Each bowl is created by the artists hand and are one-of-a-kind. Not only can you display these works of art but you‚Äôll look very fashionable if you choose to use it as a functional bowl. ‚ÄúWhen I'm not making pots or pretending to be a writer, I like to eat strong cheese, listen to bluegrass music and hike in the mountains near my home, not necessarily all at the same time, but it wouldn't be a bad idea. I wear bow ties whenever I have to dress up. We don't have any pets, but sometimes we pretend we do. I often dream I can fly, but that is another story.‚Äù —Ben Behunin
