The 23rd Psalm, with its beautiful imagery of green peaceful pastures, still waters, and a loving Shepherd has always been a message that has brought me great comfort in my life. Twelve years ago I painted a piece titled ‚ÄúThe Lord is My Shepherd‚Äù with Christ watching over His sheep as an expression of gratitude and a reminder of this message. Now over a decade later I wanted to revisit this idea to show not only the love He has for the flock, but also the care He has for the individual. "He maketh me to lie down in green pastures; He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness" I choose a beautiful green pasture that reminds me of the countryside I loved to roam as a boy growing up in England. The path represents our journey through life - while there are many dangers and pitfalls, we can always know He is there watching over us. "He leadeth me beside the still waters" Christ is the Savior of all who will accept Him. But most importantly He is the Savior for us individually. In this painting, the Savior is caring for the individual lamb while also watching over the entire flock. The healing, comfort, and peace that only He can offer is a gift that is given individually in our lives. More than anything in this image I want people to feel the love and peace that comes from knowing that our Savior is there, watching over us. —Simon Dewey
