Robert Cundick's A Full House and the other works in this album draw upon a lifetime of family fun, happy memories, and devotion to the ideal of the eternal family. Cundick's family has always been the epicenter of his creative existence and the inspiration for a number of compositions written over many years.
Domestic music as a genre has been around for centuries. Of course the quintessential domestic musician was the famous Johann Sebastian Bach. But perhaps the most obvious model for the present collection was the Sinfonia Domestica of Richard Strauss, which describes a day in the life of a typical family, with central themes for father, mother, and child, and subsidiary themes for aunts, uncles, cousins, and the like. With such distinguished precedents, it is not surprising that Cundick found many incidents in his own family life to be musically stimulating.
Features The Mormon Tabernacle Choir, BYU Chamber Orchestra, and other artists.
